1. Get ahead on school work: ie terms, studying, etc. (if you can start reading ahead for classes or for pleasure. I’m a nerd so I love researching everything. Perhaps even think about learning a second language 👉 duolingo)
2. Workout (esp. cardio: run or elliptical)
3. Play electric guitar!! (I’ve always wanted to play and I finally saved up and got the whole works: electric guitar + amp + case 🤤. Anyway I need to practice everyday because the beginning sucks and practicing only gets fun once you’re able to play your favorite songs so I just want to get through the boring parts this summer so practicing will be fun this upcoming year! Honestly if you guys have any tips or fav resources to learn to play electric guitar hmu I will be eternally grateful!!!)
4. Read (I have a whole summer reading list planned out! Truly though I read like crazy. I could post it if people are interested, lmk).
5. Blog (hello tumblr. Even scrolling through Instagram or being on Snapchat is occupying time and not eating!)
6. Listen to music (I literally listen to so much music it’s INSANE. I have my headphones in more often than not. Yet I still have a list of bands to listen to this summer!)
7. Write (I love to journal, I love to write novels, I like to write poems, I like to write fanfics, I could go on! It doesn’t matter what you write or if it’s good, just writing is so therapeutic, entertaining, and overall a great use of time. After all, who doesn’t need to improve their writing/creativity skills?)
8. Work on art projects (I am no artist but that doesn’t stop me from sketching and creating my own unconventional modern art like text works or pieces that are emotional but not at all realistic. The thing is, if you are passionate/emotional and you put this into your art, people are going to feel something and like and so don’t stress about being good. You do you because different things affect different people!)
9. Mini workouts (look up videos on YouTube or just do sit-ups/squats/wall sits/leg dips/arm circles. Honestly it’s gr8 to just get in the habit of doing these mini workouts every time you have a few minutes).
10. Smoke (hey it’s better than binging & I usually take a walk at night with music in and it’s super relaxing + exercise + prevents night time binging)
11. Do your makeup (practice makes perfect, especially with eyeliner. Idk about you but when I reach my gw I want to look perfect, so now is the time I develop the skills necessary to look fab)
12. Watch TV (finally going to watch the shows, documentaries, and animes I haven’t had time for during the school year)
13. Sing + dance like a crazy person to fav songs (ok I do this way too much when home alone but it’s burning calories + fun + I can do this for a while. I usually blare hardcore music on my Bluetooth speaker then scream and dance all through out my house, very often jumping on every couch and bed)
14. Do your hair (this goes with the make up activity and wanting to look my prime at my gw. So this summer I’m learning to curl, French braid, and style my hair so I have it down when I reach my gw)
15. Clean + organize (I admit I’m a neat freak and I love things clean and organized. For me it’s enjoyable to blast music and organize my closet, desk, book shelf, etc. I also love cleaning my entire room, yes I’m talking vacuum, washing my sheets, de-sanitizing and putting everything in its place. Even if you don’t like cleaning + organizing- it’s good for you and it’s time spent not eating. Plus I’ve found having a clean space makes you feel less out of control and therefore less likely to binge)
16. Bike (honestly I got this fucking rad bike and I don’t ride it very often, and I want to change that this summer! I live in a hilly area but I’m hoping that at least a few times a week I can get out there and go for a relaxing bike ride, headphones in, and of course playing my music way too loud. If you’re noticing a trend: I love music and I love it loud)
17. Get high (I love to get high! Oo this just became controversial don’t hate me guys, to each their own!)
18. Call someone (CALL NOT TEXT. Seriously just call someone you want to talk to, it’s really great to hear someone’s voice and you’ll be able to have a real conversation that isn’t censored like texting often is)
19. Redecorate your room (I love to rearrange things in my room, use objects not in use around my house, and even get new things all to redecorate my room. Often times you can plan, search online, etc and the result is so rewarding. Esp. if you want to get artsy you can go through the effort of developing photos and hanging them/framing them or putting up faerie lights etc etc)
20. SUDOKU, RIDDLES, CROSSWORD PUZZLES (‘nuff said)
21. Promote your art/writing (it doesn’t matter what it is just get it out there. Fanfic, poetry, painting, watercolor; literally just get your work out there)
22. Do shit (like go to a coffee shop or the mall or a hike or a concert or museum; literally anything to get you out of the house! I don’t have friends so this a bit harder for me, but for all you people with friends call up your friends and make plans! Busy = not fixating on food = not binging. Plus it’s summer…it’s suppose to be fun)
23. Rollerblade (honestly this just looks fun and people rollerblading look hot af).
24. Online shop (this is my current addiction. Granted I’m usually thinking “oo I’ll get this when I’m at my gw”, it is super motivating! The models are perf and you imagine how when you get to your gw you can wear everything you’ve always wanted to shamelessly)
25. Umm idk make a list of all the alternatives to binging this summer (lmfao 👊✌️)
